Trust & Compliance
This page covers TalkSocal's operating standards, member verification requirements, and compliance framework. Full legal terms are in our Terms of Service.
1. Platform model
TalkSocal, operated by MILIAO INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD., is a marketplace intermediary — not a direct retailer. Members list items on their wishlists; Supporters purchase those items through TalkSocal's hosted checkout. TalkSocal collects payment, deducts the Platform Service Fee, and disburses the net Payout to the Member.
Members purchase and fulfil wish items themselves. TalkSocal does not warehouse inventory or guarantee delivery.
2. Orders and fulfilment
Supporters place orders toward specific wishlist items. Confirmed payments create item-linked orders that appear in account history. Members can view payout-eligible balances in Dashboard billing settings after onboarding is complete. Members are responsible for purchasing and fulfilling stated wish items promptly and as described.
3. Payments and fees
Supporters complete secure checkout through our regulated, PCI DSS-compliant payment partners. TalkSocal does not store card numbers. A 15% platform service fee applies to completed orders. Card processing fees charged by the payment partner are also deducted. Remaining balances are paid to Members through connected payout accounts.
See Payment security for the full fee breakdown and security details.
4. Member verification and KYC
Why we verify
Verification protects the TalkSocal community, meets our legal obligations under UK Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations, prevents fraud and underage access, and is required by our regulated payment partners before Payouts can be processed.
Identity verification is required under the Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017 and PSD2 / UK Payment Services Regulations. Verification is conducted by our regulated payment partners. Payouts will not be processed until the required verification level is reached.
Verification tiers
Tier 1 — Basic registration (all users)
Email confirmation; date of birth (18+); agreement to Terms of Service. Completed instantly on registration.
Tier 2 — Standard verification (required before making purchases)
Full legal name; residential address; mobile phone number (SMS verified). Typically completed within 24 hours.
Tier 3 — Enhanced KYC (required for Members before receiving Payouts)
Government-issued photo ID (passport, national identity card, or driving licence); proof of address dated within 3 months; selfie or live video liveness check. Typically 2–5 business days.
Tier 4 — Business verification (commercial Members operating as a business)
Company registration documents; proof of business address; beneficial ownership information; relevant business licences where applicable. Typically 2–5 business days.
Members with lower cumulative transaction volumes may initially operate under a basic verification tier. Members exceeding applicable thresholds will be required to complete enhanced identity verification before further Payouts are processed.
Storefront vs payouts
You can publish storefronts, collections, and wishlist items while payout onboarding is in progress. Withdrawals become available once your connected payout account is verified and approved.
Manage your payout onboarding in Payout settings.
Failed or refused verification
Failure to complete required verification may result in suspension of payment or Payout features, restricted Platform access, or account closure. Submission of fraudulent, altered, or stolen identity documents will result in immediate account termination and referral to law enforcement.
